Third Bimonthly Exam

“Magazine Layout”

Instructions:

· Create a new file with the following format: Width 1102 pixels / Height 827 pixels / Resolution 70 ppi / Color mode RGB 16 bit / Background transparent

· To place the pictures and text in the correct order, use the grid. (Viewàshowàgrid)

· Fill the first layer with a linear gradient of two colors (1°- R:232 G:255 B:139 / 2°- R:255 G:224 B:117)

· Use a half tone brush to decorate the background. (color: white / opacity: 50%)

The magazine is divided in two parts. (Use the ruler to create a division Viewàrulers)

1. Main title. “Feng Shui” (Font: Luna Bar / Size:80 pt / Character space: 50 / color: R-140 G-102 B-1 / stroke: white, 5 px / Warp Text – Flag)

2. Title. “What is Feng Shui?” (Font: Century Gothic / Size: 36 & 48 / color: black & R-255 G-192 B-0)

3. Text. (Font: Century Gothic / Size:24 / color: black)

4. Text. (Font: Century Gothic / Size: 24 / color: black / stroke: 9 px – R:143 G:203 B:0)

5. Picture. (drop shadow – spread 31, size 18 / stroke 5 px – color free to choose) Adjustments (brightness 40 / hue +110 / saturation +20)

6. Picture. (drop shadow – spread 31, size 18 / stroke 5 px – color free to choose) Adjustments (contrast 60 / photo filter – violet 100%)

7. Picture. (drop shadow – spread 31, size 18 / stroke 5 px – color free to choose) Adjustments (desaturate / brightness -21 / contrast 42)

8. Brush. (color free to choose / resize it)

9. Flower. (Flip it horizontally / remove the background) Adjustments (opacity 50%)

10. Text. (free to choose different colors, sizes and font / Warp text – Arc +20% / bevel and emboss/outer glow)

11. Shapes and text. (free to choose different shapes, colors, sizes and font) (must have: rotation, gradient overlay and drop shadow)

12. Pictures. (office-school-garden) Adjustments in hue, saturation, brightness, contrast, photo filters, etc. (stroke and drop shadow)

13. Use brushes to decorate your work.

Practical Exam Instructions

Part 1: Christmas Card

· Create a new file with the following format: Width 425 pixels / Height 200 pixels / Resolution 30 ppcm / Background transparent

· Color the layer with the paint bucket tool (R:242 – G:8 – B:8)

· Place image #1.1, rasterize the layer, resize the image to fit in the canvas and apply this adjustment: hue: +30 saturation: -85 lightness: -15 / opacity: 35%

· Place image #1.2, rasterize the layer, resize the image as shown in the example, remove its background using the magic wand tool and apply this style or special effect to the layer: Outer Glow – color: R:248 G:248 B:131 / Spread: 5 / Size: 55

· Place image #1.3, rasterize the layer, resize and rotate the image as shown in the example and apply this style or special effect to the layer: color overlay – R:157 G:233 B:58 / Stroke – size: 3 color: white / Bevel and emboss - depth: 266 size: 4 soften: 2 / drop shadow – distance: 11 spread: 28 size: 13

· Save the file as JPEG, quality high 10.

Part 2: OMEGA Advertisement

· Create a new file with the following format: Width 15 cm / Height 10 cm / Resolution 25 ppcm / Background transparent

· Fill the layer with black color

· Place image #2.1 (Cindy Crawford), rasterize the layer, resize the image to fit in the canvas (background), remove her beauty mark (lunar) with the spot healing brush tool and apply this adjustment: opacity: 25% / brightness: 150

· Place image #2.2, rasterize the layer, resize the image as shown in the example, remove its background using the Polygonal Lasso Tool with feather at 1px and apply this adjustment: contrast: 100.

· Place image #2.3 (watches), rasterize the layer, resize the image as shown in the example, remove its background using the Polygonal Lasso Tool with feather at 1 px and apply this special effect or style to the layer: drop shadow – distance: 3 spread: 15 size: 5

· Place image #2.4 (omega), rasterize the layer, resize the image as shown in the example and apply this style or special effect to the layer: color overlay: white / opacity: 10%

· Duplicate the omega layer, resize the layer and place it below the watches as shown in the example and fix the opacity at 100%

· Save it as PSD.

Part 3: Rock Girl

· Open image #3.1 directly into PS, rasterize the layer, add a vector mask layer and draw the stars (see example) apply this special effect to the layer: stroke color: white size: 10 px

· Create a new layer and fill it with gray color (background)

· Place image #3.2, rasterize the layer, resize the image as shown in the example and apply this special effect to the layer: color overlay: black.

· Save it as PSD
